Clash Royale Clan Leader, Co-Leader and Elder – The Ultimate Guide
Players of Clash Royale can join or create clans the moment they reach Level 3. These clans can have as many as 50 members, and members of these clans are organized into four different ranks. Members are usually assigned to higher ranks in the clan by the clan leader — who is also usually the founder or creator of the clan.

Regular Members
A player automatically becomes a member each time he joins and/or rejoins a clan. This means that even if he held a higher position in the clan where he was previously a part of, he would still automatically restart as a regular member, the moment he joins another clan.
The same also applies even if the player is only rejoining a clan where he was previously a member of — he will still have to restart as a regular member.
What is an Elder in Clash Royale?
Members of Clash Royale clans have different roles assigned to them — some roles have relatively easier tasks and less responsibilities, while some others tend to require more time and require tedious work from the players assigned to them.
While an Elder may not be as powerful as clan leader or co-leader, an Elder status in the clan entails a higher position than that of a regular member — and, therefore, entails a little more responsibilities than that of the ordinary clan members.
Roles of an Elder
Elders may have more responsibilities than regular clan members, but these responsibilities aren’t anywhere as tedious as the ones required of a clan leader or co-leader.
Among the responsibilities and powers that an Elder can exercise within his clan are:
- Deciding which players are a good fit and actually worthy of joining the clan
- Inviting players to join the clan
- Accepting players’ requests to join the clan
- Declining players’ requests to join the clan
- Kicking members out of the clan — a power which he can exercise every 20 minutes, in case members try to strongarm their way back into the clan
- Ability to ‘Trash’ Derby tasks, although new tasks are bound to come up again after just a short period
What Is a Co-Leader in Clash Royale?
While the Elders of a Clash Royale clan are, in a way, more powerful than all of the clan’s regular members due to his power to determine who gets to join the clan, who doesn’t get to join, and who can no longer stay — the clan’s Co-Leader has even more powers compared to him, and with that, more responsibilities as well.
How a Member Becomes a Co-Leader
Basically everything in the clan is being controlled by its maker/leader, which means that for a member to become a co-leader, the leader of the clan must assign him to that position — although members of a co-leader position in the clan may also do the same.
In cases where a co-leader decides to leave a clan, however, he is automatically stripped off of his title and his position automatically becomes vacant until the leader, or a co-leader, decides to assign a replacement.
Roles of a Co-Leader
A co-leader is the second most powerful member of the clan for obvious reasons. He is second in command, and he has basically the same powers and privileges as the clan’s leader — although not the power to kick the latter out of the clan.
A Co-Leader can:
- Invite players to join the clan
- Accept players’ requests to join
- Decline players’ requests to join
- Promote members into Elders
- Demote Elders into regular members
- Promote members into Co-Leaders
- Kick members out of the clan
- Kick Elders out of the clan
- Communicate to the whole clan by sending messages
- ‘Trash’ Derby tasks, although new tasks are bound to come up again after just a short period
Clan Leader
Clan leaders in Clash Royale are the most powerful members of their clans for obvious reasons. A clan leader is responsible for deciding on numerous issues in the clan, and is basically in control of everything going on in the clan.
The leader is also usually the clan’s founding member, responsible for creating the clan and bringing members into the clan.
Powers of a Leader
While other high-ranking members of the clan like the Elders and Co-Leaders also have powers to bring members into the clan as well as kicking them out, only the clan leader himself have the power to remove Co-Leaders and Elders as he pleases.
The clan’s Co-Leaders have the power to promote and demote clan members into ‘Elder’ Status, as well as the power to throw members and Elders out of the clan — but they do not have the ability to throw Co-Leaders out of the clan. Only the Leader can do this.
The clan leader can also:
- Invite players to join the clan
- Accept players’ requests to join the clan
- Deny players’ requests to join the clan
- Promote clan members into Eldership status
- Demote clan members from Eldership status
- Promote members into Co-Leader status
- Demote members from Co-Leader status
- Throw members out of the clan
- Throw Elders out of the clan
- Throw Co-Leaders out of the clan
- Send messages to the entire clan
- ‘Trash’ Derby tasks, although new tasks are bound to come up again after just a short period
- Demote himself into Co-Leader status and assign someone else to take on the role of the Leader.
